N/AHer name is Flockhart.Calista Flockhart.She is the surprising new darling of US TV, nabbing a Golden Globe award in her first season as Ally McBeal.
"Ally McBeal" isn't the only reason Calista Flockhart may seem familiar.She co-starred in Mike Nichols' 1996 smash hit "The Birdcage" in which she played Robin William's future daughter-in-law, & "Telling Lies in America" opposite teenage star Brad Renfro. Not to forget,she also acted in "Drunks".
Three years ago,she managed to get her first Broadway role as Laura in Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie".Later,she played Natasha in an all-star production of Chekhov's "The Three Sisters" for which she received a Tony nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
It was in that last performance that she heard about a pilot called "Ally McBeal".As we all know, she wasn't too fond of TV before that but did take part in a 1992 episode of the HBO series Life Stories: "Family in Crisis". Finally,after much persuasion from David Kelley Productions & friends,she decided to to fly to LA for a reading & so,managed to get the part.
Currently,she rents a home in the Hollywood Hills accompanied by her terrier mutt, Webster.
