Throughout Nicolas Cage’s career, he has explored several different genres of movies. His first few films were Peggy Sue Got Married, Vampire’s Kiss and Moonstruck, the latter which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. His next three films, Honeymoon in Vegas, It Could Happen to You, and Guarding Tess were heart-warming comedies which helped to broaden Cage’s audience. However, it was the film Leaving Las Vegas that finally won him the recognition many fans and critics believed he deserved, the coveted Oscar® for Best Actor. After the enormous success of Leaving Las Vegas, Nicolas decided to take on an action movie to keep 'mixing it up.' When asked about why he decided to do a mainstream action film like The Rock, a first for him, he explains that he wanted to play a character that was a sensitive action hero, one that actually doesn't want to kill people in order to be a hero. Apparently now comfortable with the genre, he is going on to make two more, Con Air and Face Off. While the idea of actors who do their own stunts has become more popular in Hollywood, Nic refuses to take part. "I want to be around to see my kid grow up."
