At six years old Ruby Bridges made history by crossing the threshold of William Frantz Elementary on her first day of school. Ruby was black and the entire student body of Franz School was white-and they wanted it to stay that way. Through My Eyes, written by Ms. Bridges is a true account of what Bridges experienced as integration unfolded around her in 1960. She is a key figure in promoting desegregation and the fight for racial equality. Ruby now works as a lecturer, telling her story to adults and children alike.
